Specifications for abstracts and posters at SGM Conferences
Abstracts
Abstracts are published for Invited Papers, Offered Papers and Offered Posters. Each paper or poster should be associated with the scientific remit of a session. Please see the guidelines for further information.
Submit your abstract by the specified date, as published in Microbiology Today and on this website - via OUR ONLINE FORM on the meeting page.
Faxed abstracts are not acceptable because typescript has to be camera-ready.
The body of the abstract should be no more than 200 words.
An abstract should follow the outline described:
- Background and objective of investigation
- Methods used (if relevant to assist clarity)
- Results. Key points should be summarized and statements such as "will be presented" should not be included
- Conclusion
- Reference lists should not be included. Be certain to clarify all issues with regard to sponsorship and patenting before submission.
Posters
Size of display - Standard A0 size (portrait orientation) 841mm(w) x 1189mm(h) - your poster should not exceed these measurements.
Viewing times - There will be times allocated, within the meeting programme, for poster viewing. Poster presenters MUST register to attend the meeting in the normal way and must be available at their posters for a designated time. We would like to stress that authors SHOULD honour their commitment of presenting their posters for which abstracts have been accepted. The email informing acceptance of the abstract/s will request completed booking form to arrive prior to the programme booklet going to press.
