(C), (G) and (K) show the merged images of (A) plus (B), (E) plus (F), and (I) plus (J). VifWt is shown in these images. However, both VifA45 and VifA45open show similar distributions and similar effects on vimentin, plectin and tubulin as VifWt and are therefore not shown. The negative controls in (D), (H) and (L) of cells transfected with pNL-A1-Vif-minus are merged images after double-staining with anti-HIV (red fluorescence) plus anti-vimentin (green fluorescence) (D), anti-plectin (H) and anti-tubulin (L), respectively.
